View Full Version : When were you on Get This?

As the title suggests; whether it be through email, call-in or carrier pidgeon.
Tony read out one of my emails on the Borgust 31st show (Jane Kennedy as co-host), which went something like this:
"Is there any chance Richard will be releasing a Greatest Hits album any time soon?
Track 1: The Venga Bus
That's it.
Recommended retail price: $79.95."
A tad depressing now of course with the whole Marsland being gone thing but it was awesome to hear both Tony and Richard (Ed must have been eating) laughing at one of my attempts at humour; they must have liked it because they even made another little joke about it a bit later into the show.

I'm on the Arnett-cast, asking Will Arnett about if he's going to return to 30 Rock, he didn't sound to positive about it, then he shows up 4 times since! And the episode with Stephen Curry and the kids from PLPS were in the studio, Curry cut me off to speak to them!

And the episode with Stephen Curry and the kids from PLPS were in the studio, Curry cut me off to speak to them!
Question: did anyone actually enjoy having those kids on the show? A couple of them were great, obviously the "That's a bit gay!" one being the highlight, but most of them were awkward and gave short answers that didn't give the guys anything to work off of. I mean COME ON KIDS, I'm expecting more from you!!!
(being a bit facetious here but they did annoy me a tad, I understand they had to humour the kids but still)

I'm on the first email round up, haven't got the date on this box, but my email got Tony talking about Goldeneye - I challenged all three of them to play it against me, and I'd use the dual controller method (needs a diagram really to explain). I then wanted them to play Jim Waley doing "Crazy Lesbians full of beans" from the MM days - Richard cut in before Tony and said that it was "Crazy lesbians full of eels"!
Also, I think I'm on again around the end of the Illegal Download give-away, dobbing in a nerd, I dobbed in myself - claiming to have been on The Einstein Factor (with special subject: Blackadder), and recording the episode in question, with several commentary tracks to go with the DVD.
Since I got a copy of Illegal Download, I'm assuming it's in there, but haven't got that far in the recordings yet!

I made a mention of the Big Lebowski/Ninja Turtles mash up on youtube, thinking it'd give me a bit of airtime to speak to Tone, Ed and Marsland about the highlights of it, but Curry very quickly jumped in with "What films do you kids like?" and I was hurried off. Fucken Curry! I haven't been a very big fan of him since (personally, I mean, professionally I think very highly of him).
And I wasn't overly fond of those kids myself, except for Mitchell, the "that's a bit gay!" kid, which I had as a message tone in the Patterson Lakes Safeway and a woman told me she knew the kid who did it and he'd be excited to know that he's a ringtone lol

2006 - called up with Santo Cilauro as guest talking about what 'has legs', and I suggested Tasty Toobs and Muncheros.
mid 2007 - NIKleback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TiW4OeBmuY)
Friday 12 October 2007 - Self explanatory (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2M-T66lRV4) - I provided the sfx of Richard and John Howard hugging, and I was the 'show observer'.

I sent them an mp3 of the Steptoe & Son theme back in 2006, because they wanted a Howard theme (to go with the Beazley theme). Tony said my name on air, which was nice. I'm still resentful towards Jason Stephens that he never read out my name when I got my letter on The Late Show.

I was on Get This when the "Save Get This" London Rally was held. Bean and a few other fans attended, and excerpts from the clip (which you can see on YouTube) were aired.

I had my name mentioned 3 times in the last month or so of the show. Made a few sketch requests & had 3 of them played. I was very surprised.:-D

I had an email read out. It was about hearing 'Watersports' in the background of a scene in 'Hot Fuzz'. Tony helpfully edited my words so that it made more sense than what I had written, and he read out my PS about John Clarke's Fred Dagg DVD for sale on his website, and agreed with my suggestion that they should have had Clarke on the show.
Bean heard it before me and excitedly PMed me, which was lucky because I probably would have shat myself if I'd heard it. I was promised a copy of Illegal Download too, but never got it.

I sent an email to the boys requesting a copy of Illegal Download when it first came out. I said that being from Ballarat I don't get to here much of Get This and that a CD would help ease the pain :-D
It wasn't read out on air, but I got a reply from Nicky Hamilton asking for my address and they will post one out. I sent the address along with a request for Ed, Tony and Richard to sign it, I got the album, but no signatures :(

I e-mailed several times and got mentioned at least 3 times. Once in 2006 about a week prior to there first movie show with Lachy Hulme where a topic to talk about should be crap sequels with little to no cast of the original pointing out American Pie 4. Early in 2007 with Josh Lawson as co-host when I saw Squid (a short film made for Tropfest with Ed) and gave it a review for the show which was read out. And in 2007 again with Greg Fleet as co-host (his jumperpant tune ep) when free fun was a topic and doing a Gob impressive was some free fun and then mention my e-mail that Will Arnett was coming to Aust to promo Blades of Glory.
Good question meatballs in the Arnett-cast re 30 rock.

I sent in at least one email begging for Illegal Download - I say "at least one" because both Nikki and Ed got back to me seperately wanting to know my address to send me one. Being surprisingly honest, the second time around I said I already had one.
I also sat next to a friend (Guy) who called up and got on-air while we were driving to Melbourne. I'm guessing it was one of the movie shows...

I only ever emailed, even though I wanted to call a number of times I just never went though with it...
If I recall correctly my first interaction was in supplying a review for T Martin's "Twisted Tales" script. It was a hoot to have Tony read it out, especially since I included the word "bloody" a few too many times for comfort.
I also got an email read about "things that your partner do that you don't care about", where I mentioned that the craft projects my wife talks about are probably balanced by my online poker stories. Best part there was Tony saying "flopped the nuts"...good times.
Since my name is Stacey, and I am of the male persuasion, confusion sometimes occurs. I therefore got an on-air apology from Tony for referring to me as a lady, in fact there were certain times where he actually flip-flopped between referring to me as he or she.
I think there were at least one or two other emails mentioned, as I also managed to get a copy of Illegal Download.....but can't remember them off the top of my head....wait, that's right, I sent in some awful lyrics for the song Ed and Rich were trying to put together...I think I was promised a burnt copy of an episode of "The Wire", but the prize king never came through on that one.
Also sent in a last minute Borgust entry...was a crappy effort because I was in the middle of home renovations and didn't have the time to get much ready (I put on a black beanie and jacket and stuck...well, held...some old laptop bits to my chest)...in fact there was no plaster on the walls when the pic was taken...but I had to enter cause my last name IS Borg. Got mentioned on the show, in part because I also realised that someone had already sent in a pic with a laptop stuck to their chest!

Shit, that was you? I always listen to that episode, it's my favourite for some reason. I think Glenn Robbins was the co-host and then Santo just showed up out of the blue. 18/10/06. ... "Retarded twistie" makes me laugh when I hear it lol

Another memory, brought up while listening to the Podcast. I get mentioned on Podcast 127 (about 25:20 minutes in), in response to my favorite radio bit ever...Kavalee getting electrocuted..when I suggested that there was no way that was faked. This is one example of the boys referring to me as a woman, I did tape a few clips, including when T Martin apologised for the gender reassignment.

I got through in 07 when Tony Wilson was co-hosting, I think it was "family fun" or similar. Was a spin out to hear my whiny voice whilst trawling through episodes at work!

I was lucky enough to have 3 appearances over the 2 years of 'Get This':
1) - I was one of the daily "listener sponsors" played in the outros before ad breaks in the time before they secured their major sponsor in early 2007, the Nissan Navara.
2) - I submitted a piece for "Me No Rikey" that was read out on air, a set of very poorly translated instructions from a Chinese video intercom system. Ah, how I miss the 'Get This' racism gong.
3) - I also wrote the "Ode To Get This" poem, written to mark the demise of the greatest of all radio shows, which Tony talked about on air, and put up on the Triple M website in the show's last weeks.
PS - The afore mentioned poem, and many other useful bits of Get This info and some amazing links (like a link to a file sharing site that has every single FULL Get This episode from both years available for download!) - on the Get This Wikipedia WETPAINT site - I would highly recommend paying it a visit.
This should get you there: http://getthiswiki.wetpaint.com/

I'm on there in an indirect way, I sent in a rather long fan letter after the show was axed and you'll have to take it on faith that Tony asked Marsland what was happening around Adelaide (Marsland talked about the tram line extension) and used the phrase "local library" (a phrase which stuck in my mind after the novelty of seeing Futurama with advert breaks) around the same time because of this email.
I have had two of my guestbook entries mentioned on John Safran 's show on JJJ though!
I also made this poster for Passiona High

The Josie Long episode from 2007 was brought to you by my good self ;) [A few episodes before they got the Nissan Navara as the sponsor]
I called up for "What's Fallen On you?" on the episode with Santo and Tom but didn't get through :(

Well they did in '06, and a little in '07 in Brisvegas, but that's about it I think.

Did he slag you off? Or read your post out in a sarcastic voice? Actually, don't answer that second question. It's superfluous.

No, but yes the sarcastic reading is a given.
