Remember the guy that ran on stage in his underpants and jumped on the couch from series 2?
I found his website about a year ago but can't seem to find it now.

Back then I was emailing him back and forth about it the whole experience as he had written it all up in blog format. He said that he wasn't a set-up and that he did it off his own stead. After doing it, he was escorted out of the studios, and taken outside. He wasn't allowed back in to see the rest of the show, or to get his clothes! haha!
Anyway, after the show he was given his clothes back and given a stern talking to by security.

I found it all pretty funny!

A friend of mine told me about this. The bloke in question was from a club at Melbourne Uni, who apparently did it for a dare. Even though the DGen had nothing to do with it, the ABC threatened to cancel The Late Show over this incident.

Episode 6 me thinks.. .Actually, if you watch it again and listen carefully, you get the vibe that it is not set up... The way Tone and Mick react, and the little comments backwards and forewards between them and the guy,. He tries to say something as he walks out.

Oh it totally wasn't a set-up. He mentioned that.

I thought it was a funny incident anyway! haha

Yeah I was at Melb Uni in the same year as that guy, and hung out with the same larger circle of friends / acquitances ..

He was one of the 'FOUL-ies' - a fairly notorious club of basically left-of-centre types, used to always win the Scavaenger Hunts (24 hours of doing stuff of a list) .. which teams from all over the Uni would compete in but FOULies would win as they're the only group with types willing to eat Dog Food, doing *anything* naked .. spew on demand and other less desirable stunts..

I could be mistaken but I am quite sure the Bart Simpson thing was actually on the list of that year's Scavenger Hunt and he did it for the 1993 Hunt.. but I could be mistaken ..

For the record I wasnt a FOUL-ie tho used to hang out at plenty of their pissups .. we had our own club to compete where one year we 'kidnapped' Gabriel Gate, blocked the Eastern Freeway in peak hour parked sideways across 3 lanes .. stole Tony White's Big Pencil (he said on the radio 'Now how am I going to write such great deals! - never miss some free publicity :) among other things..

Watchin TLS kinda makes me feel that for the guys, doing that show woulda been basically like doing a Scav Hunt - week in, week out ..

The ironic thing about this incident is that the week before when Mick did the underwear thing on other shows, myself and a friend said if we ever got tickets to the show we'd do the same thing. When it actually happened we were both glad we hadn't done it as we thought the guy came across as a tool! Especially as he was being escorted away and he was trying to say, 'I got far more for doing this than you did'. (referring to Mick having done it for a $5 dare)

Now the thing I'd like to know is did the shows Mick burst onto know it was going to happen? Surely they must have to have Pete Smith escorting them out?

I always assumed some of the behind the scenes people knew, but not Ernie and Denise.

Yeah, clearly Mick Molloy in his durps isn't going to get onto the set of Good Morning Australia or Ernie & Denise without producers and crew members knowing and approving it.

Yes, but I always thought Denise's reaction was so genuine she didn't know. Was never sure about Ernie...

I don't think anyone was ever "sure about Ernie" in general.

(just to resurrect an old thread)
