Random What's All That About discussion thread.

Today:

What happens when you diary surf your boss's boss who says to her boss that things down your way are "imploding faster than I thought, let's talk!" and then you ask your colleague who just lunched with your boss's boss "what's going on?" and they say "nothing" but then they and another colleague starts whispering and writing things down on a piece of paper, and your own boss is (maybe) having a bit of a nervous breakdown?

Mind you this isn't my personal experience, not at all, not at any time. Just hypothetical, mind.

WHAT'S ALL THAT ABOUT?

(Cue phoney american accents)

"Hey Bob, thanks to our six-sigma lean business improvement goals session, we need to achieve realignment of our core strategies by
re-diversificating our accountability and asset utilization to drive global process transformation and yield continuous improvement, while maximizing our minimizations and accelerating our deliverables through outsourced key compentencies ... "

"Hey Mike, yeah .. we *need* to do that. So what's our strategy?"

"Hey Bob. It's Doris the Lunch Lady .. I think she needs to go.."

"Hey Mike, yeah great idea. Hey good talkin' to ya.."

Translation: Bosses bosses have to make their bosses feel like their doing something .. putting fear of god into everyone that 'changes are happening' is generally the only way their minds can come up with .. par for the course at every single major organisation.

If everyone else is whsipering nervously while saying 'nothing' to you .. its probably because they know your job is the only one thats safe ..

Maybe 'imploding' is a good thing...for instance if you work in the demolition industry you might be doing your work extra diligently and thus be in line for a pay rise.

Stay positive - maybe the piece of paper is just a photocopy of their bum that they are signing (I love that sketch too)!

   I think the paper said, 'She's seen that imploding diary entry!' So they know I know something's going on   Brings me back to the old days when me and the accountant would go on long walks and he would gossip in his very camp manner about the latest scandals.

Usually when they make some big announcement here they take you out to 'lunch' and then go, 'By the way, while everyone's here...'
