Thought I'd start a thread devoted to what DVD bargains you can get at the moment. If you know of any, chuck em on the list. We gotta watch each others backs after all!!

JB's has at the moment:
Ronnie Johns 1 &2 for $12.98 each
The Shield 1-3 for $15.98
Life On Mars for $32.98 (down from $49.98)
Rome Series 1 for $38.98 (down from almost $70)
Rescue Me Series 1&2 for $15.98 each (awesome show with denis leary)
The Young Ones Series 1 & 2 Boxset for $38.98 (this will come down in price in a few months though)

The problem is finding the time to watch them all. Still havent gotten to Deadwood Series 3 yet and I bought that in August!!! Why is TV so good at the moment??

It is, but only really off the internet, or in the boxsets that get released of stuff that doesn't make it here. eg. Flight of the Conchords is available now on DVD (not locally of course) and everyone in the world should watch the Showtime Show Dexter, which is currently showing in the US in it's second series and is probably the best drama series of all time. And there's also Reeves and Mortimer series', in terms of British comedy, that have been released on DVD after 10 or so years. I'm sure Tone will be happy about that. :) There's also been Peep Show which actually did get show on ABC2. Rob Newman's History of the World Backwards, which is brilliant. The Peter Serafinowicz Show also bloody funny. The Omid Djalili Show is also amazing, he's an Iranian comedian with a SERIES ON THE BBC! They're up to the third season of Tittybangbang, which boasts the best female impersonator of Tom Cruise you've ever seen. And last and definitely least, Lead Balloon which is an average British rip off of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

ahhh well that's different (yet true).
There's actually an article in the SMH today talking about how audiences are really deciding what they watch and when. Evident through tv show dvd sales. Programming directors still don't take note!

I'm finding when I go to buy DVD's I hardly ever buy movies anymore. Always straight to the TV section. Just got series one of Rome, which kicks ass. I can believe you almost see penetration within the first ten minutes or so. I'm a fan of anything HBO does. Australian drama still seems to be as shit as ever though maybe with the exception of Love My Way. I'm totally suspicious of the new show on Foxtel starting Wednesday, Satisfaction...Whats the bet: no story but heaps of tit? Or lower half nudity as Mercado said...

i'd be shocked if anyone on this forum didn't have it - but target/kmart etc has the Late Show champagne edition for 16 bucks atm.

plus each blackadder season is $12 a pop.

that's super value in any language.

Does anyone know if Frontline is still on the English syllabus? I tried to borrow it from my library 100 times before I finally gave in and got it on Ebay for a bit less than store price. Did anyone see it in the Target catalogue a while back for about $50?? This was totally non-exsistent malarki. They never had it in at all. I reckon they made a boo-boo. Anyway, I'm now very sad to find an autographed copy on Ebay. Do you think this could be trusted?

One bargain I picked up before Christmas, for my zombie movie loving husband, was the double pack of Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz for $15!! What a bargain.
If anyone's looking for holiday laughs, I highly recommend the Hot Fuzz extras. Good Lord, I laughed so hard last night I developed laryngitis and almost did a little bit of wee. If you've seen them, the horse! When he's on the horse! That's when I completely lost it. Good Movie too.

Also got for chrissy The Mighty Boosh, which was $15. Do you people like this? I saw Artic Boosh, Melbourne Comedy Festival show in, what must have been, '99. Loved it to bits. Then, due to living with a pillow case over my head, made no connection with Artic Boosh being The Mighty Boosh, thus missing out, so far, on the DVD joy. Julian Barrett is, of course, my kinda guy. No doubt it's that younger Noel Fielding that has all the TV Hits stickers.

Off to see 'No country for Old Men' tonight, anyone seen?

Yep, and it's really good - kind of a bleaker desert version of Fargo. It would have been my movie of the year if not for Inland Empire (I'm a very big David Lynch fan).

I'm always looking for the two-disc Hot Fuzz DVD for cheap, but not only has it failed to drop in price (from around $32), it's slowly vanishing from shelves...

It's a pity that very few people have the 70 minutes of extra footage for Inland Empire, I'm not sure which overseas release that was put on, but I have it. :)

It's the US (region one) release that has all the extras - I know, for I have it too. Actually, I think the UK (region four) release might also be a two-disc, extras-heavy version. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the local release (if it even gets one), as I think Lynch brought the US one out himself. it's not listed on ezydvd yet, at any rate, and if the local version doesn't have the extras don't get it - the US version has some amazing stuff on it.

An exact description, thanks. It was very good, and how creepy was that Javier Bardem? <shudder> I must say I did get a bit distracted by the appearance of Maurice Minnifield at the end there, and then my mind starting wandering during T. L. Jones' soliloquy, and then whoops! The credits roll. Being a very unsophisticated movie goer, I was left wondering *aloud* (embarassing), what happened to the money?
