If anyone hasn't done so already - you must go out and get Molvana & Phaic Tan - the two hysterical travel guide sendups written by Rob, Tommy G & Santo ..
www.jetlagtravel.com
** Make sure you check out the videos on both book sites !! Santo doing 'Elektronik.. Supersonik' video and the pretend Phaic Tanese soap opera .. bloody fantastic !!
I noted in the other post that the Panel wont be on this year - so maybe they are working on a TV version of Molvania ??? I heard a rumor they would..

I've got Molvania and Phaic Tan (got the latter at the airport, as it's not for sale in the UK yet - although Molvania is doing a roaring trade).
They are excellent! I love Bumpatabumpah the best.

Gotta love the lyrics to Elektronik-Supersonik.
Hey baby wake up from your a sleep
We have arrived onto the future
And the whole world is become....
Elektronik, Supersonik,
Supersonik, Elektronik,
Hey baby ride with me away,
We doesn't have much time,
My blue jeans is tight,
So onto my love rocket, climb,
Inside tank of fuel is not fuel, but love,
Above us, there is nothing above,
but the stars, above
All systems gone!
Prepare for downcount!
5....4....3....1! Off blast!
Fly away, my space rocket,
You no need put money in my pocket
The door is closed I just lock it,
(Ha) I put my (Ha) port plug in your socket (Ha Ha Ha)
The sonic sky is bright like fire
You and me gets higher and higher
Cut communication wire
Only thing can stop us is flat tire
Ha, Ha, Ha Ha Ha Ha
Hey love crusaider
I want to be your space invader
For you I will decend the deepest moon crater
I is more stronger than Darth Vapour
Obey me I is your new dictator
For you is Venus, I am Mars
With you I is more richer than all the tzars
Make a wishes on a shooting stars
Then for you I will play on my cosmic guitars!
Ladies and Gentlemen
Fasten your beltseats
We has commenced our decent
I trust you enjoy this flight
As much as you enjoy this accent
Now back on Earth its time for downsplash
Into sea of eternal glory my spaceship crash
People have arrived for cheer me from near and far
And as I float I open door and shout
"I am worlds biggest, washed-up superstar!"
(Supersonik, Elektronik)
As for sure as the sun rises in the west
Of all the seas and all the boats I am the bestest
come, let me put ring of Jupiter on your finger
Then like a smell around you I will forever linger
Ok, is time for end, no more will I sang
Let me take you back in time,
I want for you to experience big bang
Long live space race
Long live, Molvania

If you take a good look she could be Jane. That would make sense, but I don't know for sure.

Hahah nice try but *no way Jose* is it Jane... I wish !!!
Still its a classic song that's become something of a cult classic on the web.. google it and many obscure sites that list all kinds of weird stuff have this video on.. some people have even thought it was *actually real* :)
If you haven't already.. check out the soap opera 'Hospital Of Hearts' on the Phaic Tan website.. it's even funnier!

I always thought it was Jane, but looking again I'm not so sure.
Have we all noticed Zlad's 2005 Eurovision song, I Am The Anti Pope?

Hard to tell whether the girl is Jane. Looks like her in the top photo, but not in the bottom photo.[/i]
I believe she's Working Dog's office assistant.

This (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220087230832&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:AU:1) seems to turn up on eBay a lot. It appears to be an audio book CD of Molvania. Does anyone know about this? Is there any English language version? And how would an audio book of Molvania work, anyway?

If anyone's still without the Jetlag Trilogy (as absolutely no-one is calling it), I saw today in Dymocks that you can now get all three (in a cardboard slipcase) for $24.95. Which would be a sweet deal, except that I think pretty much everyone has at least one of the series.

That's cheaper for what I saw it for, it's at Collins Booksellers at Northland for $29.95

Like Baudy, I don't have any either. I keep buying them for people for gifts and never bought one for myself.....
I'm going to rectify that by buying the box set though!

They really are worth it... if you've been wondering where the 'funny' has been in the D-gen over the last few years, here 'tis.

I just finished reading Phaic Tan, and I really enjoyed it, being familiar with the Lonely Planet guidebooks that were incredibly useful to me in Scotland and London a while ago.
I liked the travel tips from their experts, Philippe Miseree, Tina Payne, and Jonathan Quibble.
I'll be sure to borrow Molvania and San Sombrero from my local library soon.

Just wondering if anyone has any of the media ##edit:sorry just the book club one all the others are working still##from this page[http://www.jetlagtravel.com/sansombrero/downloads.html] and if so if they could upload i would be most appreciative, also just looking at this old article from the Age in 2004 and Santo mentions making a series for the BBC based on the travelogue books, did anyone ever hear any mention of this project again?

I downloaded the Zlad song from the Molvania site. And I think there was a video too and some other stuff related to the other books. I'll see what I have and upload it.
As for the BBC TV show, I was at the book launch for Molvania in London. I was there because my other half worked at Foyles at the time and they'd made it their book of the month (thanks to me telling my other half how good it was and my other half telling his boss how good it was). The launch was sparsely attended, there was me (gatecrashing), about 5 people from Foyles (including my husband), Tom Gleisner, some people from the publisher and TV and radio comedy producer David Tyler (from Pozzitive Productions). Tyler and Gleisner were deep in conversation for about 20 minutes. My husband and I stood near them and tried to hear what they were saying, but we failed miserably. Anyway, I suspect that and a few other conversations is about as far as a TV series got. Shame, really.

That is a shame, maybe its something that could be revisited down the track as they have added another book since those talks happened.Would of been great to see these guys working with the BBC who knows what it could of led too......

Yes, it's a great shame it never happened. A BBC budget would have been larger than an ABC one, I'm guessing.

As do I! Thankyou!
What private little nuggets of gold these were. I was totally unaware of Zlad until I got online last year.
