Is there anyone who could help me in finding out the projects Jason Stephens has done or is doing post Late Show?

I know he was involved in "The King," and I think I saw him listed as executive producer on "Newstopia." I may be wrong there.

So, if you know of any Jase projects, can you let me know? Even projects by him pre Late Show would also be helpful.

He also did Choir of Hard Knocks last year.

Best thing to check would be IMDb!

He was definitely involved in Newstopia; didn't someone here actually post a screen shot of him standing at the side of the rest of the crew? Or was that my imagination?

I do remember him kneeling next to Shaun, when they had a political arguement and people kept on piling ito the background and kept on nodding.

I have an interview with him from 1996 that will eventually be uploaded as part of the Martin-Molloy archive if that helps? All he says is that he'd been in the USA at a film school sadly though.

He's one of the executive producers of Newstopia - the bit he was on-camera in was a joke about politicians having growing numbers of minders standing behind them. Eventually Shaun had about fifteen people on camera, with jase off to one side (visible only in widescreen, I think).

And yeah, it seems that after TLS finished, he went to film school in the US, came back here and moved into film-making and then producing. He's a bigwig at Freemantle now, I think.

I heard he was head of comedy at some record company. This was in the 90s and I'm not sure if I believe that any Australian record company actually had a head of comedy in the 90s.

From the interview in 96 he hadn't been doing anything since the Late Show. So it'd have to be after that if at all. And then you'd think his name would be on the Brown album or something because what other record company is there in Australia other than Mushroom?

From memory (very vague memory) I remember going to the old comedy club/cafe? (Lygon St) to see a pilot for a new panel type show on cable and Jason Stephens was some kind of producer.

I just watched the making of featurette on The King dvd and and its chockas full of Jase, plus he's in the commentary, still being funny and not as businessman-like as you would expect of one of the most powerful men in the tv caper

He was a regular in a forgotten parody soap show called Shark Bay in... 1995, was it? It was on Galaxy, and no one I knew had pay TV for another five years so I certainly never saw it. I still have the tiny article from the Pink Guide though.

The concept was that Shark Bay was a well-loved, cheaply-made Australian soap that had gone on to find fame overseas. The first episode was a celebration of the series' first 5000 shows and featured lots of fake clips from 70s and 80s era Shark Bay.
