Um... I knew a guy who went to a taping of a show during the 2nd season... unfortunately he was so busy telling us how good he was for going he forgot to tell us anything about it.
I remember at the time tickets were pretty hard to get, and more than a couple people I know tried to get them but missed out. And if you were in Sydney and wanted tickets for the Sydney show, fat chance - in fact, wasn't the audience for the Sydney show packed with semi-celebs? I remember recognising a few faces in the crowd (Laurie Zion was one, I think).

One of my mates (actually the mate that provided me with the majority of the Late Show VHS tapes which Ive transferred) tried many times to get through but it was always engaged.

Yeah I once went to Fast Forward taping (and my mum was an extra in a sketch which got replacing by someone else in a different taping when it aired!!) .. but no I never got on the Late Show but I wish I had !!!
Yes the Sydney show was full of heaps of celebs.. umm cant remember now but of course a few pop up during the Biosphere 3 sketch with Lucky Grills appearing !!!
I *do* know a number of people mainly from uni who either were in the audience or appeared in bits of the late show:
eg.
- The long curly haired guy who jumped onstage in Bart Simpson underwear unexpectedly during intro was a guy from my course at uni who was part of the big gang who we used to hang out with (not a close friend tho he was a d**khead!)
- The chef Chris Cox who Tony & Mick bag during their 'hecklers revenge' sketch was a guy I knew pretty well back then, mate of a close mate.
- During the 'Give Jo a Chance' thing outside channel nine another old mate from uni was part of the gang of protesters (young Indian guy with blue shirt & sunnies).. apparently they just advertised on the radio that day and he went down..
We used to do scavenger hunts at Uni - one whole day to do a range of ludicrous things off a list like steal signposts & video yourself naked in Bourke St etc... and I always thought filming the late show was a lot like doing a scav hunt !!
Finally.. something for the nutbag file this week: was having lunch at Heidelberg maccas and three old codgers were talking about Tony Martin for some reason!!!
 :? :D

I posted this in the "memories" thread, but it's also relevant here too..
I didn't see a full show but I was working at Nine at the time and one morning I was listening to the Triple R Breakfasters. I think Santo and Jase were on as guests talking about a Jo Bailey rally to get as many people outside the gatehouse at Channel Nine that day.
I wandered past the gatehouse later that morning and watched it all happen from inside. Most people inside didn't know what was happening, except for myself and a few others who heard it on Triple R earlier that morning.
I am actually standing in the background looking on with a few others. I only noticed myself in shot a few years later on the VHS tapes.
I also remember when the pilots were done at Nine. To the long time De-gen followers there was much excitement on hearing the rumours that the pilots were being done, but disappointed they never came to anything on Nine. Probably a blessing in disguise.
Also the Shitscared sketch during the pilot with Jane's little white 4WD running over Rob, happened right on my old car park space. I always thought of that sketch whenever I parked my car there.. Happy days!!!
Ah the memories..

Yes. I scored tickets to the Sydney filming way back when (93?)
The deal was you had to send in a photo of yourself with a " celebrity"
I called my friend Leaping Larry (Melbourne wrestling identity + comedy writer) who was friends with the staff at Ruben Kencad management and he lined it up. I still had to send a photo (myself + Danny from the Partridge Family).
We arrived at the ABC studios. In the foyer a young lady asked me directions to the VIP room
Turns out it was Sophie Lee (who was then shagging Mick Moloy)
We also had VIP tickets which wasn’t as good as it sounds. It meant you were not in the studio but in a private screening room watching it live on telly.
Luckily someone in the room noted our disappointment and invited us into the studio (although we had to stand to the side).
Of course it was great seeing a live shoot.
At the end of the show we got to go to the after show drinks thingy.
All the cast were there except for Mick Moloy (maybe he was having his own private party?)
I got Late Show promo photo signed by all the cast (no Mick tho) + Lucky Griles aka Bargarse
I also got photos with Lucky + Jane
The nicest and most up for a chat was Judith
Rob seemed a stuck up..Maybe he had things on his mind.
FIN.

Sadly, STUDCOLA, I'm more impressed that you're friends with Leaping Larry L than with getting on The Late Show - I've still got my old DBL T-shirt and copies of both their tapes somewhere...

yeah DLB excellent show. I was a big RRR listener back in the early-mid 90's. Also Osso Booko those guys were so funny with their prank calls, The Science show with Dr. Andy....
Someone refresh my memory... Julian Schiller's show, what was it called? With "Bill - The Serial". Had tapes of their shows for years...

Jullian Schiller? aka. 1/2 of Crud along with Tony Moklair??
Geez seems like years ago already but Crud on MMM was fantastic - with of course Gino Hatzsis but also other legendary characters ('Premier Steve Bracks here') ...
Those two really seemed to be like The Next Generation of D-Gen' for a bit but lately they've gotten slack and are just doing bits of stuff here and there???

I did listen to them on MMM but unfortunatley anyone could see they had a limited lifespan on commercial radio. You're right Tony and Julian were excellent.

Which one of the Crud boys was it that used to sometimes appear on The Panel? I agree they seemed to be the future of Aussie comedy (back when it seemed to have a bright future) - they both seem to be just doing writing gigs and working the corporate circut now, which is a shame. Why didn't they ever get a TV show?

Actually both appeared on The Panel I'm pretty sure, but I think your thinking of Tony Moclair - aka Guido Hatzis - aka the Woggy looking guy - and get this my sister used to work with him at the Pancake Parlor in Doncaster back in teengage days, he had a different (obviously his original) surname and she said he was funny as hell even back then...
