Sorry I haven't uploaded more uglymike, I've still got a shitload more to go, but I don't have as much time as I once did, plus I've got to work out what stuff isn't on the dvds (I don't want to give away the stuff that can still earn them a quid).

This is awesome

I can't believe that this website exists 20 years after the show aired! And the posts are recent! I had no idea the ABC had lost most of the episodes. I've been enjoying some of the youtube clips stupidmeatball has uploaded and it prompted me to go looking to see if there was a purchasable DVD or full collection of the episodes. I keep seeing Fast Forward/Full Frontal on the Comedy Channel and thinking to myself "if they air this, why not The Late Show?". I now know why!

I for one hope that an easy way of disseminating the collection becomes available as I'd be all over it. I'd be very happy to become an active helper. I know of 2 other people who want a copy of this collection so there certainly is a demand for it.

Good luck to you all. If the community needs more help with the project, PM me, I'd love to help with the resurrection.

i also would be more than happy to do the next batch. i would like prefer mine on usb if possible as i think it would be easier for most people.

also when i pull my finger out, i have dozens and dozens of vhs tapes of various comedy and standup that i got from a video store that i will gradually be transferring to harddrives. i can make that available also when it is finished.

Couldn't agree more with Mr. baudrillard. I'll be more than happy to fill requests when I've received the files myself.

Hopefully it won't be too long until USB thumb drives are high-capacity enough to make full HDDs unnecessary.

Yeah the quality is fantastic considering the fact they were taped off tv 20 years ago!!

The quality is just as good as the dvds, which weren't dvd quality anyway.

but I'll see what the consensus is about sharing the love.

Still it's nice - as part of the legacy of the Restoration Project - to keep them in as high a quality as possible considering the quality they were able to be obtained in. They are available online in their compressed format in places, but Ben's request was that they weren't supposed to be uploaded, and we were kind of blessed to have a community where these things were available to those who contributed and it strengthened the sense of community and sharing something special between each other.

I have the files in DivX and they total to just over 30gb. When I offered to do copies I was unemployed, unfortunately I don't have time to do mass quantities of disks anymore.
I like your idea of getting the last people who got their copies run off the next batch also.

You could put the xvids on. I guess it's more about the quality Ben was able to preserve. And you could just limit it to TLS and nothing else too, but there's a lot more than just LTS and there's plenty of TLS extras even too without starting to go into the D-Gen stuff.

then in turn i can do the same for others. share the love!!

30+ discs or so x 4.5 gig? Nope.

My 2 cents.
I think we'd have to set a few things in place for this to work. My personal proposition would be this.

*** A condition of this has to be that when other people make requests for copies that you guys fill them. This isn't an exercise in pass the parcel. This is so that the people who have already sent out hundreds of discs aren't going to have to continue to do this endlessly without the job being shared by others.

If you receive a drive, the onus will be on you to make sure that requests are filled and that means contributing to the forum as well as just checking the forum regularly so that requests are filled. You can post anything, memories of what you saw when or what sketch or joke you really found funny, when Snatto and stupidmeatball (and probably others I am forgetting) were making copies this seemed like a fair way to deal with a "free-rider" type thing where people just join and say "GIVE ME THE DISKS!" like Jack Bauer.

But I think we need to put in place is that as soon as someone posts a request, please post that you will fill that request, if you've done the last one maybe we can put this on a rotational basis or something so that if there ends up being a number of you, you take it in turns, but this is really the point of this exercise.

Ideally, we'd want you to become members of the forum who contribute to the community and not just anonymously taking and not giving back. Sorry to sound harsh but there are others who have just hit and run on this site and take what people like Ben have put a lot of effort into for granted.

Please feel entirely free to ignore my submission, but I think it'd be a productive way to go. And I guess it'd be on a case by case basis, drives may mean there's some risk in transport, but there's ways not just 20 discs of TLS but also other things such as D-Gen series episodes and specials and The Mick Molloy show. That'd put things up to over 30-40 discs, still discs can be very cheap so maybe people should be able to specify if possible, and I better see if I can dust off that last episode of The Mick Molloy Show on VHS for the last 3 minutes of it. I still have a few discs I'd have to get together still before what I'd have is complete. I've got the VHS as opposed to the TV special of Degenocide to transfer for example.

Anyway, those are my thoughts and observations.
