St Ambrose Church is on Sydney Road in Brunswick. If you are travelling north from the city, it is on your left just after Glenlyon Road/Dawson Street. The Padre Pio sign was up there for a few years after the Late SHow, but it may not be there anymore, I think it hasbeen taken down.

The "Padre Pio" Church is called St Ambrose. Has Dashboard Doctor always been on Sydney Road though? I have a vague memory of ...

Beware of Wog

This may be obvious, (either that or I am way off track) but was Beware of Wog based on Nick Giannopoulous? Jane's "Connie Capricciosa" was an obvious take-off of Effie, but if so, my real query lies in the Joey Spagnolo and the character Judith played (can't remember her name). Was he meant to be S...

QUOTE] NO, Cooks' Cottage is in the Fitzroy GArdens which is in East Melbourne, not near Chapel Street. It's on Wellington P...

One of the things I am most proud of my father was that he made a great effort to learn English. He came here at 17 from Italy, so it was easier for him, but he took classes and made a great effort. The younger you are, the easier it is to learn a language. I would say anyone migrating to Australia ...

Whenever I am in Melbourne I try to find as many of the things from the Things of Stone and Wood Parody from TLS - Run Out of Melbourne Cliches, only problem is I spend most of my time in Melbourne singing that song. My most exciting find was the "kiosk at the end of pier", next time I am going aft...

I love Underground! Sadly, as I got into alternative music in my mid 20s, the song hit a little too close, but I love it anyway :)
