Yeah, the countries themselves are made up - but the regions they're meant to be in aren't. What I mean is that while I've never been out of Australia, I can still find the jokes funny - but people I know who've been around the world find the books funny 'cause they know what they're making fun of. Which kinda leaves me out if the jokes start to repeat themselves...

Oh dear, this sounds ghastly. But I like this Santo Tilaro lad, whomever he is.

they should do something Daily Show/Jon Stewart-ish, either in book or TV form. They'd be good at that.

ah..let's face it, The Late Show was what it was all about

The Herals Sun in Melbourne has a full page article today about The Panel Xmas special and a bit on their new show. I've read it but I don't have the paper with me now. If anyone feel inclined to put any of it here go ahead.

Any mention of who will be guest starring on the Panel this year?

Yeah I'm at work so i'll type the basics.

They're doing a Christmas Pantomine - guest starring Anthony Caleja

"I'm not able to give away what happens this year, but it will be equally unpredictable - and maybe Glenn (Robbins) will even learn his lines" (Rob) Sitch says.

Re: The new show...

"Rob Sitch and the Working Dog production team have sold a new show to Network Ten for next year, called Thank God You're Here.
The show will not feature Panel members, but it will star well-known names thrust into situations in which they have no expertise and know little about."

I'll type more when I can or if anyone else can, go nuts.

By the way - The author of this aricle is Robert Fidgeon, for those who remember him!!!

Thats pretty much the gist of it - but I think they meant that Anthony Callea was the star of *last years* Xmas special - appearing as baby jesus in the nativity scene...

Chris Lilley of We Can Be Heroes will be a guest on this year's Christmas special. Anyone else a fan of this show (WCBH) it's genius.

Not THE Robert Fidgeon who badmouthed the original Late Show and its stars?

My, how times change. Either that or Working Dog are selling out to their former enemies.
