Another bad movie that came to mind this evening is Silent Night, Deadly Night (discussed elsewhere on this forum).
In this film, a man dresses as Santa, and goes around committing axe murders.
According to Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide, cinemas in America showing Silent Night, Deadly Night were picketed by protesters.
Though Silent Night, Deadly Night went straight to video in Australia, I recall there was some outcry over this film here, given the concern about the effects of explicit content, or 'video nasties' upon minors.

Bad Movies from when you were young
Today, on the 5:11 train from the city, I recalled an incident that happened to me back in 1994 when attending a Billy Joel concert. It still makes me convinced that the Elderly Operations Centre is real.
As the support act were playing, many people around me were going to buy merchandise, such as T-Shirts, baseball caps and programmes. Being a budget-conscious student who was watching their dollars, I opted to buy a T-shirt.
As I was sitting there, minding my own business, some pensioner saw me looking at what I had purchased. She had spent quite a bit on merchandise.
She remarked to me rather disparagingly;
"Is that all that you bought?"
Not wanting to make a scene, I didn't say anything back. Still, I was pretty miffed about this.

Bad movies from when you were young
Does anyone here remember the live action Popeye film.
This came out in 1981.
It starred Robin Williams in the titular role. This was Robin Williams first film after starring in the TV show, Mork and Mindy.
I did not see Popeye at the cinema, but watched it when it screened on TV a few years later.

All I remember, is two hours of tedium, and some truly woeful songs.

Cosy Cool
My favourite remains the 70's Aussie Biker/undead/crab film - Cosy Cool - somehow the sheer "Occerness" seems to amplify the excruciatingly inexplicable plot and performances. - The random use of cutaway close ups of a Mud crab (it's not shot at the coast) are something to behold.
I think it came up on Get This but I was lucky enough to find it in the VHS bin out the front of the video shop....

For those forum members who grew up in Melbourne, I recall that the late Ivan Hutchinson presented this film in his series of Ivan's Movie Classics that aired on Channel Seven each Friday night during the late 1970s - early 1980s.
I don't remember much of this film. I got told to go to bed. Dad then changed the channel to watch Pot Black on the ABC.

I have to mention the movie adaptation of Annie.
I went to see this at a local, independent cinema 31 years ago.
To this day, I ask myself, why did I choose to go and see this movie?
Apart from not liking musicals, this filmed starred a cast of precocious little American girls, with loud, annoying voices.
I discovered that a remake is being released this year. Somehow, I doubt that I will like this much either, and not just because I am a cynical adult uninterested in seeing musicals or kid's movies.
I went to see this at a local, independent cinema 31 years ago.
To this day, I ask myself, why did I choose to go and see this movie?
