Sports Fever! S01E05 Ratings

Source: 7Mate

The caucus votes are in.

It seems that the general public love the 8:30pm timeslot and a move to high definition television. So much so, that 42 000 people loved seeing Tanto, Tonto & Ted so clear and lifelike, it was almost they were in your living room.

It may seem lower-than-normal ratings, there was some stiff competition with Alcatraz, Revenge and the Oscars at the 8:30pm time slot. The HD channels only cover 1 – 3% of the ratings system. Not all regions in Australia have access to HD channels, yet alone a HD box (SD boxes do not pick up HD channels, unless they’re re-broadcasted on a secondary SD channel – just like ONE HD did a few years ago before SD channel ELEVEN came along). The replay on Channel 7 was around 81 000 viewers. (Thanks to TV Tonight for the insight.)

More cricket stabs were off the bat (pun intended) which was amusing as the Allan Border Medal was being shown on a rival channel. Highlights of an emotional good luck rugby game, anxiety in soccer, and even Socceroo player Mark Bresciano has dusted off his diary from Cup Fever! to give a Socceroo qualifier entry. Motor Racing legend Rick Kelly dropped in to have an indepth chat about the up and coming motor sport racing, and another Cup Fever! segment Who To? came back for some superb dodgy ball kicking. There was even a satellite cross to Jeremy “Rin” Lin in New York, in which Sam Pang mysteriously had to sneak out to see the Allan Border Medal updates.

A very funny installment to Sports Fever!, so if you miss the 8:30pm timeslot, the same episode repeats later on Channel 7 at roughly 11:30pm that night, if lucky. Always check out the Facebook page for updates and changes. Available also on Plus7 when you get a chance as well, 7 days within its broadcast.

AQFB Article: How Melbourne Became Cool

Source: news.com.au

If you have seen the film Any Questions For Ben? you’d notice how Director Rob Sitch captures the essence of Melbourne.

In  fact, journalist Angela Saurine has done one further, and had a one-on-one chat with Sitch to get a rundown on some of the best hot spots of Melbourne.

From cafes to rooftop cinemas, exploring Melbourne’s all hidden nooks and crannies is a measure on itself. But once you’ve found a few cool spots, you can’t stop exploring.

While Melbourne’s CBD was quiet in the 1970s and ’80s, with groovy cafes and restaurants setting up in the inner suburbs instead, it has since been transformed.

“A lot of the people who started those things discovered all the laneways of Melbourne and reinvented the city,” Sitch says. “That was a surprise to everyone … at that time, the back lanes just had skips in them.”

One of Sitch’s favourite streets is Degraves St, off Flinders Lane.

“You can wind your way north from Flinders St and you will probably get your biggest taste of it,” he says.

You can check out the entire article here. Now hop to seeing Any Questions For Ben? and book your flight to Melbourne now!

Sports Fever! Now 8:30pm Mondays – With A Catch…

Good news everyone! News for Snato fans!

The crazy antics of sports highlighted by the trio that is Santo Cilauro, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee will now be shown at an earlier time, instead of the bleary eyed “weekend viewer” late night time slot.

Currently, the show was live on Monday nights around 10:30pm onwards, then replayed on 7Mate the next day, but the old switcheroo has now come into play.

Santo, Sam & Ed’s Sports Fever! is now moving to the prime-time slot of 8:30pm Mondays, live on, 7Mate. That episode will then be replayed that night on Channel 7, after How I Met Your Mother / Happy Endings.

Happy days!

Well done to Santo Cilauro, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee for getting to their fourth episode on air at such a premium start of 10:46pm.

With the extra dosage of Channel 9’s cricket coverage, in which we can’t get enough of, and more soccer, we had some extra sports covered. This included tryouts for swimming in the olympics and even *gasp* some rugby league coverage.

There was also a special guest from Brisbane, Billy Knight, who appeared to be a doppleganger of a 1970’s Rob Sitch if he was in the adult business for bogans. An average 188,000 witnessed the runner-up for the Mud Fields Best False Moustache competition go his rants – in true champagne comedy style. The hallmarks of Graham and The Colonel were there, waiting to be shown (stop teasing us and bring them back, at least once! Maybe the final episode?? *nudge nudge*).

If you missed Santo continuously selling himself as an Italian for many a year, watch the replay on Plus7‘s site when it decides to work, or join in the convo on Sports Fever!’s Facebook page and Twitter @sportsfever7.

Judith Lucy on In Gordon Street Tonight

I may not have published this here in time to give you warning (but if you follow this site on Twitter, it was promoted!) but if you didn’t have your eyes on ABC TV last night, you would’ve missed Judith Lucy having a chat to Adam Hills on In Gordon Street Tonight.

Lucy sat comfortably and chatted to Hills about her new stand-up tour Nothing Fancy, lightly spoke about her show shown on ABC last year, Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey and her inspirations on both shows… plus touched a bit on her crush on 80s pop sensation Adam Ant, who appeared on the show.

If you missed it, you can watch the show online via iView, or download it from the site or iTunes.

PS: Also note a tiny Late Show joke that I am sure wasn’t intentional… listen out for “mystifed silence’…

Sancho, Stan and Ted graced an average 182,000 television screens last night at around 10:37pm (probably an extra 1 million viewers on a two minute Optus time delay are missing somewhere). A wonderful show that if you don’t follow any type of sport, Sports Fever! makes it extremely entertaining.

This week, baseball, parts of the cricket, soccer and darts were covered (with Thor’s Hammer), along with special guests former cricketer Damien Flemming and baseballer Daniel MacGrath dropping in for a chinwag. Also, essences of Cup Fever! were seaping in with new segments:

* Are They Gonna Pash? – highlighting if some sporting players about to go in for the tonsil hockey.. or are they? Ed Kavalee gets his jollys…
* We Watched It So You Didn’t Have To – crazy and boring sporting events that the guys watched and try to find the best parts. The Tour of Qatar had Sam Pang sitting on the edge of his seat with anxiety, while Santo Cilauro was puzzled to see how many sponsors could fit on a sports gun for the Bi-athon World Cup in Oslo.

Missed it? Check program guides for repeats on 7Mate, hit up Sports Fever! Facebook page or watch online for the next seven days on Plus7. I’m off to chase down Mr Snuggles.

Rob Sitch on In Gordon Street Tonight

source: abc.net.au/tv/adamhillsIGST

Former Spicks And Specks host Adam Hills is back with the second season of In Gordon Street Tonight. The first episode was launched tonight (Wednesday 8th February) with the first guests Rob Sitch and Josh Lawson, promoting Any Questions For Ben.

Sitch briefly spoke about how they had to alter a park to get the autumn leaves appearing, and also how Lawson and co-star Rachael Taylor hooked up. Further in the show, Sitch also briefly spoke about the history of The D-Generation, as well as some other stories.

If you missed the episode, it’s available to watch on iview for 14 days, on the official site, and podcast on itunes for free. Get it while it’s hot!

Sports Fever! S01E02 Ratings

Source: au.tv.yahoo.com/plus7/sports-fever

With a slightly earlier start of 10:40pm (technically it was 10:43pm as per my watch), the perfectly timed second episode of Sports Fever! with “Santo, Sam and Ted” raked in 200,000 late night viewers. Sure, it’s a little down from their premiere first episode last week, but… well…

I have nothing. It was still entertaining, nonetheless.

Maybe we were all burnt out from so much Superbowl, or we didn’t know much about the game. Either way, after having Yankee comedian Jeff Stilson coming in to explain in simpleton terms the game, and former AFL-cum-NFL player Ben Graham come in to show off his sparkle, it all started to make sense. Another highlight was showing off the swan-lake style failed catches in cricket, and Sam Pang doing his street talk to the kids at the T20 games. Kinda cute.

After reading some backlash about Sports Fever! not covering football/rugby so far – maybe because the game isn’t in season yet and will most likely get reported on closer to date. All about patience, entertainment, and me-no-rikey jokes…

PS: Ed – no more product placement name jokes.

If you missed the show, it’s repeated Tuesdays 8:30pm on 7Mate, and online on Plus7 when available. Don’t forget to see behind the scenes photos and videos on the official Sports Fever! Facebook page.
